1. HOW TO ENTER: To enter for a chance to win an event with Sy Montgomery, author of THE GOOD GOOD PIG, visit www.goodgoodpig.com/bookclub (the "Web site") and fill out the online entry form. First two hundred valid entrants will also receive one hardcover copy each of THE GOOD, GOOD PIG. Form must be received by Sponsor not later than 11:59 p.m. EDT on August 1, 2007. Only entries submitted electronically to the Web site in accordance with these rules will be eligible for consideration. Entries will be deemed to have been submitted by the authorized account holder of the e-mail address submitted at the time of the entry. "Authorized account holder" is defined as the natural person who is assigned to an e-mail address by an Internet access provider, online service provider, or organization (e.g., business, educational institution, etc.) that is responsible for assigning e-mail addresses for the domain associated with the submitted e-mail address. No purchase, entry fee, or payment is necessary to enter the Sweepstakes. No mechanically reproduced entries will be accepted. Limit one entry per person/e-mail account. You must be a member of a book club to enter. For purposes of these rules, "receipt" of an electronic entry occurs when Sponsor's servers record the entry information after entrant clicks the "submit" (or similar) button. In the event of a dispute as to the entries by the same person, whether using one or more e-mail accounts, neither entry will be accepted and Sponsor reserves the right also to disqualify other entries (if any) by the same individual. Automated entries are prohibited, and the use of any automated device in connection with entrance will result in disqualification. Entries are limited to individuals only; commercial enterprises and business entities are not eligible. Sponsor is not responsible for incorrect or inaccurate entry of information by entrants; lost entries or transmissions; interrupted or unavailable network, server, or other connections; scrambled transmissions or other errors or problems of any kind whether mechanical, human, or electronic, technical malfunctions of the computer hardware, software, or any combinations thereof; or problems associated with any virus or any other damage caused to entrants' systems. Incomplete entries will be voided. All entries become the property of Sponsor and will not be returned.
2. ELIGIBILITY: The Sweepstakes is open to legal residents of the continental United States excluding Alaska, Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, and Florida. Must be eighteen years or older, and a member of a book club meeting regularly in one of the states in which entrance to this Sweepstakes is permitted. Employees of Random House, Inc., and family members and individuals living in their homes, are not eligible to enter. The Sweepstakes is void where prohibited and is subject to all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
3. SELECTION OF WINNER: One grand prize winner will be chosen at random from all eligible entries submitted within the deadline. Drawing will be conducted on or about August 15, 2007, at which time the first two hundred entrants will also be identified. One grand prize winner and two hundred first entrants will be notified by mail or e-mail by August 20, 2007. If any Grand Prize winner cannot be reached or does not acknowledge notification (by return of necessary paperwork as set forth below) within the ten days following the first notification attempt, the prize will be forfeited and an alternative winner will be selected at random from the remaining eligible entries; inability to reach any entrant eligible for the free book prize, or failure by any such winner to acknowledge notification, will result in selection of the next entrant. Winners will be required to sign an Affidavit of Eligibility and Liability/Publicity Releases within ten (10) days after the notification date.
ODDS OF WINNING DEPEND ON THE NUMBER OF ELIBIIBLE ENTRIES RECEIVED.
4. PRIZES: One book club event with Sy Montgomery, author of THE GOOD GOOD PIG. Sy Montgomery's attendance at the grand prize winner's book club meeting must be scheduled (with Montgomery's and Sponsor's approval) by September 15, 2007 and must take place before the end of 2007. During the event Sy Montgomery will spend one hour with the book club. If the book club is not associated with a bookstore or library, the event will be setup, by Sponsor, at an offsite location in the city of the winning book club. In this event, attendance will be limited to not more than fifteen (15) book club members, including winner. The retail value of the grand prize is 2,000 and the value of the hardcover edition of The Good Good pig is $21.95. All other expenses and all federal, state, and local taxes are winners' sole responsibility. No transfer or substitution of prizes. No - value of the prize is what it would cost to book an event with Montgomery at a book club, not what we will pay to fly her in and put her up (although that might be part of the calculation). We also need a value for the free books.
5. Limitations of Liability/Reserved Rights. Neither Random House, Inc. nor its parents, subsidiaries or affiliated companies, nor its/their promotional agencies shall have any obligation or responsibility with regard to (i) entries that contain inaccurate information or do not comply with these rules, (ii) entries, prize claims, or notifications that are lost, late, incomplete, illegible, unintelligible, damaged, or otherwise not received by the intended recipient, in whole or in part, due to computer or technical error of any kind, (iii) telephone, electronic, hardware, software, network, Internet, or computer malfunctions, failures or difficulties, or (iv) any damages or losses of any kind caused by any prize or resulting from acceptance, possession, use or misuse of any prize.
6. Sponsor, in its sole discretion, reserves the right to disqualify any person tampering with the entry process or the operation of the Web site or otherwise violating these rules. Sponsor further reserves the right to cancel, terminate, or modify the Sweepstakes if the Sweepstakes cannot be completed as planned because of infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, or technical failures of any sort, or if Sy Montgomery becomes unavailable for any reason before the prize has been awarded.
